Playground Replacement Project
Bert Dix Park and SS Ellen Park
Renmark Paringa Council is seeking community input to help inform its decision regarding the replacement of two of its playground due to damage sustained during the 2022 floods.
Overview
Renmark Paringa Council has 10 playgrounds across the townships of Renmark, Paringa and Lyrup. During the 2022/23 flood the playgrounds at Bert Dix Park and SS Ellen Park were significantly damaged and Council had structural assessments completed on them which indicated the playgrounds were non-compliant and should be replaced.
Project status
Council will be undertaking Community Engagement to seek the communities view on their preference on two different options for each site. Community engagement will occur during December 2023, with the information collected during the consultation presented to elected members early next year. The designs were chosen to adhere to budget restrictions as it is a flood damage replacement project.
Timeline
Community Engagement for this project will be undertaken during December, with results presented to Council for endorsement in January 2024. Once endorsement is given the contractors will order the equipment. Due to long wait times on play equipment, the onsite works are set to take place in April – May 2024, and are planned to be ready for community use in June 2024.
Public consultation
Consultation will run from Wednesday, 13 December to Sunday, 24 December. We ask that families take the time to share their preferred replacement playground for each park. The idea behind the two choices is that one playground is like for like of what we currently have and an option of an alternate playground.
Face-to-face consultation
A display showcasing the designs will be on show at the Renmark Public Library from Tuesday 19 December to Friday 22 December. People can view the designs and lodge their vote at the library. Council staff will be at the library to speak to locals about the project on the Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings.
