Renmark Paringa Council Meeting Update - June

Published 24th June 2026

Renmark Paringa Council held its June Ordinary Council Meeting this week, with several key decisions made. These include:

Strategic Management Plans Adopted for 2026/27

Council adopted its key strategic management plans for the 2026/27 financial year, including the Annual Business Plan and Budget, Long Term Financial Plan, and Infrastructure and Asset Management Plan.

Together, these documents set Council’s priorities for the year ahead while providing a framework for long-term financial sustainability and asset management.

They outline the projects, programs and services Council will deliver, along with strategies to maintain, renew and improve community infrastructure over the coming decade.

The plans were shaped by extensive community engagement, including Council’s Community Priorities Survey and the formal public consultation process. Feedback received from residents helped inform priorities and investment decisions across the district.

Council thanks all community members who took the time to share their ideas, feedback and aspirations. Community input plays an important role in shaping these key strategic documents and ensuring Council’s plans reflect local needs and priorities.

The final documents can be viewed here:

Annual Business Plan and Budget 2026/27

Long Term Financial Plan 2027/36

Infrastructure and Asset Management Plan 2027/36

Fees and Charges Adopted for 2026/27

Council also adopted its Fees and Charges Schedule for 2026/27 following a comprehensive review undertaken as part of its financial sustainability program.

The updated schedule reflects a user-pays approach, with most fees increasing in line with CPI while ensuring services continue to recover operational costs where appropriate.

Changes include updates to camping fees, waste disposal charges, cemetery services and water supply charges within the Calperum Industrial Estate.

The full Fees and Charges Schedule is available here.

Renmark Aerodrome Lease Secured

A new five-year lease agreement was approved with Stark Aviation Pty Ltd, trading as Flying Fuels, for the fuel storage and bowser facility at the Renmark Aerodrome.

The agreement secures the continued provision of aviation fuel services and supports the ongoing operation of essential infrastructure for aerodrome users and operators.

Flying Fuels has operated from the site since 2020 and has invested significantly in infrastructure required to store and supply aviation fuel.

The lease extension provides certainty for both the business and aerodrome users while supporting the continued operation of an important local service.

Support for Lions Club Expansion

Council endorsed a new lease arrangement with the Lions Club of Renmark Incorporated, allowing an expansion of the leased area surrounding Shed 1 at the Renmark Oval Sporting Complex.

The additional space will enable the club to expand its facilities and continue supporting its growing range of community activities, events and service programs.

Riverland Disability Access and Inclusion Plan Adopted

Council adopted the Riverland Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2026–2030, developed collaboratively with the District Council of Loxton Waikerie and Berri Barmera Council to provide a consistent regional approach to improving accessibility and inclusion outcomes across the Riverland.

The plan was shaped by extensive community consultation, including workshops, stakeholder engagement and public consultation with people living with disability, carers, service providers, advocacy groups and the broader community.

Feedback highlighted the importance of improving physical access, increasing awareness of invisible disabilities, enhancing access to information and creating more inclusive opportunities across the region.

The plan focuses on creating inclusive communities, improving access to information and facilities, supporting employment opportunities, and strengthening leadership and collaboration across the Riverland.

Its adoption reinforces Council’s commitment to ensuring people of all abilities can fully participate in community life and access services, facilities and opportunities throughout the region.

The final plan and Easy Read version will be made available in the coming days

Major Projects Carried Forward

Council endorsed the carry-forward of six projects from the 2025/26 Annual Business Plan into the 2026/27 financial year to allow works already underway to be completed.

While Council remains on track to complete 20 of its 28 capital projects this financial year, several projects have experienced delays due to contractor availability, material supply challenges and weather impacts.

Projects being carried forward include:

  • Bert Dix Park Boat Ramp Upgrade
  • Renmark Paringa Cycleway Footpath Renewal
  • Renmark West CWMS Project
  • Lock 5 Moorings Bank Stabilisation
  • Jarrett Memorial Gardens Playground Renewal
  • Road rehabilitation works on Nineteenth Street, Twentieth Street, Para Street and Industry Road

Carrying these projects forward ensures funding remains available to complete the works and deliver the intended community benefits.

Council also agreed to defer the Alan Coulter Recreation Centre Indoor Pool Plant Room Renewal project for consideration through future planning processes and ongoing recreation centre investigations.

Additional Funding Secured for Bert Dix Park Riverbank Stabilisation

Council endorsed the allocation of $300,000 in external grant funding through the Department for Environment and Water’s Constraints Measures Program to undertake riverbank stabilisation works at Bert Dix Park.

The funding originates from savings achieved on earlier Constraints Measures Program projects, including the Renmark Rowing Dock and Twenty First Street Bridge design works.

Following discussions with the Department for Environment and Water, Bert Dix Park was identified as a priority project that aligns with program objectives and can be delivered within the required timeframe.

The stabilisation works will complement the Bert Dix Park Boat Ramp Upgrade and utilise a proven design approach similar to that currently being implemented at Lock 5 Moorings. The project will help protect the riverbank, support recreational use of the area and enhance the long-term resilience of the site.

Council will continue assessing other potential riverfront improvement projects through future asset planning and investment processes.
