Renmark Paringa Council Meeting Update - February
Renmark Paringa Council held its monthly general meeting this week, with a number of decisions made.
Mini Movers lease endorsed
Elected Members endorsed a new five-year lease (with a five-year renewal option) for Renmark Kindergym Incorporated (T/A Renmark Mini Movers) at the JD Wilkinson Pavilion.
The decision follows public consultation, which received no submissions, and secures the continuation of the long-running early childhood program at the site.
Destination Riverland funding
Council acknowledged Destination Riverland’s 2025–2028 Business Case, which outlines strategic priorities to grow tourism across the Riverland, and approved a $60,000 contribution for 2025/26, subject to agreement by all G3 Councils.
Proposed funding increases in 2026/27 and 2027/28 will be considered through future budget and Annual Business Plan processes, with any changes subject to outcomes of the South Australian Tourism Commission’s Regional Tourism Review.
Ski for Life camping request
Council endorsed a request from Ski for Life to allow registered participants to camp overnight at the Renmark Sporting Complex as part of the 2026 event.
The annual March long weekend event attracts around 400 participants and concludes in Renmark, but accommodation shortages and limited boat parking have created challenges in recent years. Council noted that supporting on-site camping helps retain this significant community and tourism event, with a new Events Policy to guide future camping requests at sporting precincts.
