SA Flood Warning Consultative Committee Nominations
Elected members endorsed the recommendation to approve the nomination of Mayor Peter Hunter for consideration as a member of the South Australian Flood Warning Consultative Committee (SA FWCC).
The SA FWCC provides strategic advice on flood forecasting and warning services across South Australia, bringing together representatives from the Bureau of Meteorology, State Government agencies, and local government. One local government representative will be appointed for a two-year term (to October 2027).
Mayor Hunter was endorsed as a highly qualified candidate, with strong experience in local government, flood and water management, and community engagement.
His expertise and leadership in these areas will enable him to contribute valuable local perspectives to state-wide flood management strategies.
Transfer of Airport Hangar Lease - Molnar to Amos
The Deed of Assignment for the lease of hangar 8 at the Renmark Airport was transferred from Rowan Molnar to Kelvin Amos as per a recommendation passed by elected members.
Comprehensive Rating Review
Council endorsed the recommendation to commence a comprehensive review of its rating structure to assess the equity, effectiveness, fairness, and sustainability of the current approach.
The review forms part of Council’s ongoing financial sustainability program, following discussions during the 2025/26 budget process. It aims to ensure that the way Council raises revenue remains fair, transparent, and aligned with long-term financial planning goals.
Draft Dogs and Cats By-laws 2025
Council endorsed the recommendations to proceed with public consultation on the updated Dogs By-law 2025 and Cats By-law 2025.
The updated drafts reflect those previously endorsed in August 2024, with the key amendment being the reinstatement of provisions for cat registration within the Cats By-law. This change ensures Council retains the option to introduce cat registration in the future as a tool for managing nuisance and stray cats.
The Dogs By-law 2025 remains unchanged from the 2024 version. The DCMB raised no concerns or required amendments, confirming the drafts are consistent with legislative and model by-law requirements.
Endorsing the updated drafts enables the next formal step — public consultation in accordance with the Local Government Act 1999 and Dog and Cat Management Act 1995.
