Renmark Paringa Council Meeting Update – August
At its August Ordinary Meeting, Renmark Paringa Council Elected Members made a series of decisions aimed at improving local infrastructure, and supporting community health and wellbeing.
Fitness Equipment Upgrade Approved for Alan Coulter Recreation Centre
Council approved a capital expenditure of $57,955 (excluding GST) for the replacement and upgrade of essential fitness equipment at the Alan Coulter Recreation Centre Health Club. This investment will be funded through Council borrowings and reserves.
The upgrade is expected to deliver multiple benefits, including:
- Improved safety and reliability of the equipment
- Enhanced user experience and satisfaction
- Greater accessibility, including disability-friendly options
- New fitness programs and services
- Overall support for healthier lifestyles in the community
This initiative aligns with Council’s broader commitment to promoting wellbeing and ensuring that public facilities remain safe, inclusive, and up-to-date.
Approval of Property Works in Jane Eliza
Council also granted approval for two homeowners in Jane Eliza to carry out minor works on their properties. These approvals ensure that development continues in line with local guidelines and that residents can make appropriate improvements to their homes.
Funding Reallocated for New Ashes Interment Garden at Renmark Cemetery
Recognising growing demand for memorial spaces, Council endorsed a revised budget of $38,369 for the 2025/26 financial year to support the establishment of a new Ashes Interment Garden at Renmark Cemetery. This amount comes from a previously endorsed but unspent allocation of $43,699 in the 2024/25 budget.
Originally tabled in November 2024, the project includes landscaping works, the installation of screening near the toilet block, and the construction of a new niche wall. The development aims to revitalise an underutilised section of the cemetery and enhance the overall environment for families seeking respectful interment options.
Update on Custom’s House Boat Ramp Upgrades
Council received an information-only report detailing the finalised designs for the upgrades to the Custom’s House Boat Ramp. This project, part of a partnership with the Department of Environment and Water under the Sustaining Riverlands Environment Program, is fully funded by external grants and involves no cost to Council.
The upgrades are intended to improve access and usability of the boat ramp, benefiting both residents and visitors who use the River Murray for recreation and tourism.
