Wastewater Systems

Any proposed installation or alteration of a wastewater system (sanitary plumbing, septic & effluent disposal systems) must be approved by Council.

An application form must be submitted to Council for assessment accompanied by the necessary fee, detailed site & plumbing plans and (if required) a wastewater engineer’s report.

Installations are assessed pursuant to SA Health's Wastewater Code & South Australian Public Health (Wastewater) Regulations 2013. All plumbing work must be carried out by a licensed plumber.

Trade waste, such as wastewater from food businesses that contains grease, requires additional treatment compared with wastewater created by households and general business activities.
