Murray River Study Hub

What is the hub?

The Murray River Study Hub is a Federally funded program aimed at improving access to higher education in the Murraylands and Riverland. Stemmed from community demand, it’s helping regional students to pursue tertiary education and VET alternatives without having to travel to a campus and relocate outside of the region.

Their team provides local, modern, convenient, and connected resources where students can come and learn together. This combination allows Riverland and Murraylands minds, no matter what course they’re enrolled in, to have an opportunity to study in the right environment and succeed.

Students can study any course they want, through any higher education provider and access free support though this program. This allows school leavers, current/previous university students and mature aged students the flexibility to choose from a bigger range of courses and a mode of study to suit their lifestyle and work commitments.

Locally based student advisors are on hand for students to utilise, giving expert advice and one-on-one guidance. These passionate individuals are driven to help students reach their educational goals.

Regular blogs and newsletters provide further advice and tips to students – and keep readers informed on the latest news in the university sphere.

The Murray River Study Hub creates a wider benefit to the community by bridging career opportunities between university students and local businesses. Building these relationships ensures a bright future for our region’s professions, keeping talented locals within the region.

How did it come about?

This initiative began in 2018 when The Rural City of Murray Bridge, in partnership with Regional Development Australis Murraylands and Riverland and TAFE SA were successful in receiving grant funding through the Regional University Centre Program, Department of Education Skills and Employment. The Murraylands campus opened in 2019 and the addition of Coorong District Council and the Riverland G3Alliance to the Executive team in 2020 supported the opening of the Riverland campus in 2020.

Since its initial opening, the Murray River Study Hub has further branched out with three new Riverland spoke locations. The Renmark, Berri and Loxton sites to provide uninterrupted support for Riverland Students while construction on the new Riverland central hub takes place.
